The Lost Quilter

In Jennifer Chiaverini's book, a fugitive slave, Joanna, was recaptured and made a quilt with clues to her journey in the blocks and stitching. Over 100 years later, a quilter has that quilt and reconstructs the life of the host quilter. Most of the book chronicles Joanna's life--fascinating story of Civil War era from a slave's view. I especially liked the historical details woven into the fictionalized lives of the characters...excellent, riveting read--not just for quilters.
